About the founder
Anne Ferguson first practised yoga in 1996 in Toronto and it was love at first pose. She enjoyed periods of intense practice and training over the years but watched her yoga and self-care routines disintegrate under the pressures of work and family life.
In 2013 Anne spent 24 hours in emergency care following a serious immune reaction. Her body was sending her a B-I-G message that enough was enough. In the months and years that followed Anne battled enormous panic attacks and recurring anxiety while her medical team tried to understand what had happened.
While the cause of the reaction took months to discover, Anne quickly realised that her body had been
whispering for help for a while.
When she didn’t take good enough care, it did the best it could: it stopped her in her tracks.

So life got really small for a while. Things became super simple. She spent a lot of time listening and reflecting.
And the main lesson was this: busy, busy, busy wasn’t working. It certainly wasn’t feeding her soul. Anne wasn’t thriving, and the more she talked to other mums, the more it became clear that many of them weren’t, either.
Over and over she heard about constant low-grade sadness, isolation, lack of support and poor self-care.
So Anne created PauseYoga to offer yoga+community to mums in the Geneva region and beyond. She takes yoga on the road to help build connections and community right where her students live.
Anne’s warm approach creates a nurturing atmosphere for her students to recentre, connect and reflect. Her passion for anatomy and alignment ensure her students are safe, and her open sense of humour offers a few chuckles along the way.
Anne teaches a blend of active vinyasa flow and soothing restorative yoga, as well as pre- and post-natal classes.

In addition to teaching yoga, in 2015 Anne founded The Centered Mama Project Anne works with mums who are parenting far from “home.” Mums like you. Whether you’re two hours or two continents away from the people and places you come from, Anne reminds you how to take care of yourself while you’re being supermama for everyone else.
Once you’re back at the top of your priority list, Anne works with you to ease your integration into the community around you — whether you plan to stay for two years or forever. Because it’s true that it takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a village to support a mum.
